The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on bare floors They are also adept in removing hair from dogs. There are some issues however, which hinder them from being our first choice. Highly recommended Internet site of them is that the Q5's navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to become entangled in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate rooms with a lot of people efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that can see around corners.

It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming it, something we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combinations.
3. iRobot Roomba X40
With a sleek circular design that looks like a regular Roomba rather than the boxy units this robot vacuum and mop combo is among the most attractive designs in our reviews. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also its smartest. It comes with advanced features such as enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads autonomously).
It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to a combination high-tech sensors including a structured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that is fully autonomously refill and empty its base station and it boasts industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40, like other iRobot products, is easy to use. It comes with an easy mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This could be a concern in the mornings before work or during the night when you're trying to sleep.
It's also quite expensive but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. If you're willing some more volume and some additional cost it's a powerful two-in-one that will satisfy most people.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a variety of sophisticated features that let you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine like Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and fills up the water tank, and washes and dry mop pads.
The smart robot employs an array of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and identify obstacles, and navigates more effectively than some of its premium competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time, though this wasn't foolproof in our tests and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.
Its vacuum cleaner has an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has an option called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the house depending on how dirty these areas are.
For bigger homes, it's worth opting for one with zone or spot cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean a particular area of your home using the app or voice controls. A stair mode can be useful if you have a number of furniture. Additionally, a recharge and resume function that allows your robot vacuum to pick up right where it left off is great for busy families.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you might imagine from its price. It vacuums well and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad and a rotating motion that is more efficient than most of the mop cleaners with robots that we've tried. It's self-sufficient too, with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying washable base.
The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate the mapping process that collects data on your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, set up a spot clean or to prioritize your most filthy rooms to improve performance. The app has a range of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.
It can also reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has strong 8000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for hair of pets. You can also organize a spot-cleaner that will thoroughly clean the area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute eyes. It does a good job vacuuming but is more prone to be caught by low thresholds and is a bit more noisy than the other top robot vacuums we've tried. It also has a less intuitive app and a small base station that can't be used as an emptying bin.
